Neighbours is an Australian television soap opera aired on March 18, 1985. Television executive Reg Watson created it. Following the success of Watson’s previous soap opera, Sons and Daughters, The Seven Network commissioned the program.
The plots center on those who work and reside in the fictional Melbourne, Victoria, suburb of Erinsborough.
The series centers on the residents of Ramsay Street, a cul-de-sac, and its neighbouring area, the Lassiters complex, which includes a bar, hotel, café, police station, lawyers’ office, and park.
It was revealed in November 2022 that Fremantle and Amazon Freevee had agreed to revive the series. The series would also return to Network 10 permanently, after 11 years on 10 Peach.
On April 17, 2023, regular production got back underway, and on September 18, the show did as well.
Is Toadie leaving Neighbours?
Yes, he is leaving the show after 30 years.
After almost thirty years of playing the beloved character Toadie Rebecchi on Neighbours, actor Ryan Moloney has announced that he is leaving the role.
In 1995, the 44-year-old actor debuted in the Australian series as the unruly teenager Jarrod, also known to his pals as Toadfish.
Since then, he has been a mainstay of Ramsay Street, but he now intends to part ways with Toadie to assume a new position as director on the show.
Given that he is still part of the show’s production team, Moloney suggested that the character might make a comeback in the future.
Moloney released a statement, “I am leaving Ramsay Street after 30 years of playing Toadie.
“I am not sure what is going to happen to the character; I might end up being Jim Robinson’s replacement. Alternatively, I might follow in Harold Bishop’s footsteps and continue to reappear over time.”
“I will be bringing our fantastic storylines to you from the other side, behind the camera,” he said to the fans, “even though I will not be bringing them from in front of the camera.”
Why is Toadie leaving Neighbours?
He has been a stalwart of Ramsay Street ever since, but now he plans to leave Toadie behind to take on a new role in the series as a director.
As he is remaining with the show’s production team, Molone hinted that it was possible the character could return in the future.
